Cicely has dedicated over 20 years to the art of piano, beginning with classical training under Melanie Karr Munro during her formative years in Iowa - Go Hawks! Her musical career continued at Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where she explored music production and sound design, culminating in a B.S. in Music from the University of Colorado Denver. Specializing in piano performance, Cicely expanded her skills under the guidance of Peter John Stoltzman and Gregory T.S. Walker at UC Denver, gaining expertise in chamber music, composition techniques, commercial styles, and music theory.
Cicely furthered her education with a master’s degree in music and human learning from The University of Texas at Austin under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Duke and Dr. Laurie Scott. During this time, Cicely refined her teaching approach, focusing her research on how music plays an integral role in holistic development, shaping the teaching philosophy that now guides Origin Studio.

Having lived and taught in Austin for over eight and a half years, Cicely has worked with more than 200 students. During this time Cicely has taught piano at Harmony Lessons in north Austin, was a faculty member at UT Austin teaching non-music majors piano fundamentals, and is an active faculty member at Orpheus Academy of Music. Her teaching approach is developmentally informed, patient, and highly individualized, bridging new musical concepts with existing knowledge. Her lessons are infused with positivity and patience, tailored to meet each student’s unique learning style. Committed to nurturing creativity and imparting practical piano skills, she aims to inspire a lasting enthusiasm for music in all of her students as they grow into well-rounded individuals.
Outside of teaching, Cicely enjoys spending time outdoors, composing, taco tasting and a good live band.
